Vodcast: Soap is as important as Soup
This vodcast material is taken from Larry's book, Food, Finance, and Philosophy. Sick Sigma: The Pursuit of Quality at What Price?
Six sigma is defined as 3.4 defects per million opportunities. We generalize to say we can allow 3-4 rejected parts per million units of production and statistically have high quality. This can be applied to manufacturing processes or administration processes such as credit card payments or insurance claim accuracy. Six sigma is applied to most process oriented functions by leading organizations. The resources being allocated to this level of quality control ensure consistent value for the customer.
